Clients can request the desktop's standard modal material behind their own surface. The compositor chooses the color, opacity, radius and blur. This grants no access to backdrop pixels or privileged shell roles. Clients should leave their surface background transparent after attachment. The material changes only rendering, never focus, input, geometry or stacking. Destroying this object restores the surface's ordinary rendering.
